The port of San Pedro de Macoris is located on the Higuamo river on the southern coast of the island and about 60 kilometers to the east of Santo Domingo. This port is mainly used to discharge bulk fertilizer, cement clinker, coal, wheat, diesel and LPG; it is also used to export sugar and molasses produced by several sugar cane mills in the region.ANCHORAGE:

Pilot and harbor master can be contacted by radio channel 16. Pilot boards the vessel about 1 mile from the harbor entrance from a small boat of about 35 feet in length.RESTRICTIONS:

Unfortunately, all ports within the Dominican Republic are facing drastic problems related to stowaways. The unauthorized boarding of vessels, while at roads, or in port, are the most serious hazard you shall have to face. Prior to sailing the vessel will be boarded by a team of Dom. Rep. Navy personnel who shall perform a ship search for stowaways. However, the best way to minimize the risk of stowaways is by hiring private security service which can be arranged by the agent on a no cure/ no pay basis.
The vertical measurement from the pier No. 1, 2 & 3 to water line is 5 feet. The vertical measurement from the ramp (pier No. 2) to water line is 8 feet.
